wortec and principal dealer "Greens Vauxhall" concived a project to produce a high powered version of the 2005 VXR Monaro in early 2006.

Tests started with various options. Naturally asperated, turbo charged and supercharged options were fitted to variouse cars and after 3 months of evaluation a clear winner emerged.

Wortec chose to use the "Harrop" posative displacement supercharger. When added to a fule upgrade and a fully mapped PCM, it produced a reliable 500PS. and the potential to go to 600PS if required.

during the design of the "VXR500" the "VXR brand team" were aware of the project and on completion gave it their official backing which put the "VXR500" into history as the most powerfull Vauxhall ever sold.

EVO magazine said:

"Moral corruption comes in many guises, but none so glorious as this, the supercharged, 493bhp Monaro VXR 500"

The subsequent press coverage proved to be one of Vauxhall's largest global media stories and ensured "VXR500" sold out within weeks.

Vauxhall subsequently put a "VXR500" in the Vauxhall Heritage Centre along side the Lotus Carlton and many other classic Vauxhalls.
